Hey guys,

ACT is hosting a video contest and you could win up to $5,000 in scholarship money. You must create a video (less than 3 mintues) about why students should take the ACT. Hurry, the deadline is September 11, 2001.

Georgia Tech visit

Students if you are interested in meeting with a representative from Georgia Tech, please come by room 302 on August 31, 2011 at 10:15 am. You will need a pass from either Mrs. Strickland (come by the Depot in the counseling office to get one) or from your 4th period teacher. If you have lunch, just drop on in!

100 Black Men of Atlanta College Fair

Who: 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc invites all high school students to attend
When: Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
Where: Georgia World Congress Center, Building C off Northside Drive
Why: Admission and Financial Aid officials will be there from HBCUs and other colleges from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, & Tennessee

Freshman Mentor Application

Are you looking for a way to make a difference at DHS? Are you friendly, do you like to help others, would you like to share ideas on how to become a successful student in high school? If so you may be interested in becoming a Freshman Mentor. You must have a "C" average or higher, have little to no discipline issues, and attend school regularly.

This is not a class. This is an opportunity to participate in a school activity that gives you the opportunity to earn volunteer hours and a service cord for graduation. You must commit to working with your mentee group two days per week during the first half of lunch. You must also commit to attend a monthly training session during your lunch.

If this sounds like something you may be interested in, please complete the application that is attached below and return it to Mrs. Morris in room 6-209 B or in the main counseling office located in the 300 building. Thanks!
