Leadership Summer Opportunity

Are you interested in working at CNN or Turner Technology?

A CNN Experience: June 19-24
You will: Attend daily interactive workshops developed and led by professionals from CNN; Network with CNN and TBS, Inc. executives in a variety of media related careers; Discuss and analyze world issues with CNN journalists; Create a news-related project with feedback from the pros; Meet motivated young leaders from across the state of Georgia; Gain valuable experience and a TERRIFIC resume item for your college application!

A Turner Technology Experience: July 17-22
You will: Attend daily interactive workshops developed and led by professionals from TBS; Network with TBS, Inc. executives in a variety of technology related careers; Learn about major areas—Broadband, Linear, Interactive TV, Mobile, On Demand; Create a technology based project with feedback from the pros; Meet motivated young leaders from across the state of Georgia; Gain valuable experience and a TERRIFIC item for college applications!

Attention Juniors!

Two programs available to current Juniors:
1. Furman University
If you have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, a genuine interest in an education in the liberal arts and sciences, significant involvement in extracurricular activities and community service, demonstrated leadership potential and a PSAT score of 120 or higher, or an SAT of 1200 or higher on the Critical Reading and Math sections or an ACT score of 26 or higher, you may be interested in applying to the Furman University Scholars program. See Mrs. Strickland in the depot by Feb 10th to submit your name.

2. Erskine College
Erskine College Fellows Program is interested in Juniors in the top 10% of the junior class, with demonstrated leadership, and community service, have earned a minimum of 1100 on the critical reading and math sections of the SAT, or 24 on the ACT. Northside Hospital VOLUNTEEN Program

Applications are now available in the Deopt (located in the 300 building counseling office). Applications must be completed and mailed by February 25, 2011. Spaces are available at the Atlanta and Forsyth locations. Apply early since spaces fill up quickly!

February College Visits

Hey Wildcats! Mrs. Strickland is setting up times for college representatives to come visit DHS and meet with students who are interested in applying to their school. If you are interested in attending one of the sessions in the Depot (located in the Counseling Office, 300 building) please see Mrs. Strickland to get a pass. If the college rep is going to be in the lunchroom there is no pass required.
